The Bishop’s Stortford Methodist Circuit is made up of one town centre church and three village churches. It is geographically spread along a north-south line straddling the Essex and Hertfordshire border, with Bishop’s Stortford being the main church to the south. The churches are served by one full-time Methodist minister and one full-time and one part-time URC minister, both of whom also have responsibility for other URC churches in the area. Many of the churches have strong ecumenical links, and two of the churches are in Local Ecumenical Partnerships; one with the URC, and one with the URC and Anglican churches. Saffron Walden Methodist Church closed on Palm Sunday 2014, but many of its congregation are now worshipping at Abbey Lane URC in Saffron Walden. For more information about Abbey Lane URC please click on the website link below. Braughing Methodist Church closed in 2019 and the building is being sold. Worship is also led by two supernumerary ministers, one associate minister, and our team of seven active local preachers and six worship leaders. The churches have varying styles of worship from the traditional to the informal.
Coronavirus Update All the churches are now open for worship, but have restrictions in place. Please see each church’s website for details.
